| I disagree with ML, I've had several electrics and have found that I personally shave closer with the electric. How is this possible? Well, when I used to use a blade I would slide the blade across an area 3 or 4 times and then the gel/cream was gone. I didn't bother to lather up again it was just too much of a bother.
When I went to an electric I found I could go over the same area as many times as I wanted until it was smooth. I was done faster and no more cuts.
Oh, well, to each his own.
