Ernie was the lead player on the first hit I played in NYC. We were the trumpets in "A Little Night Music." The show had less than 150 notes in the almost three hours, but it was an unforgettable experience. Stephen Sondheim and Jonathan Tunick were magnificent in the writing and scoring of the show.
Ernie played the biggest mouthpiece I have seen a commercial player use.
It was much bigger than the Schilke 24 The whole show was in waltz time. It is still one of my favorites.
