Hey, that's wonderful! I'm happy for you because the pops repertoire is challenging but fun. It's challenging because you play for longer periods and fun because it's muic we all know.
If you're going to play music without the benefit of rehearsal, get some friends together and have a duet sight-reading party. If you do know what pieces you're playing, learn them as well as you can and don't be shy when you play the gig.
