| What may seem idiotic, is actually practical. Just ask any serviceman about their basic training. There will usually be some stories about some idiot that did something stupid. Hence, big, simple labels on some weapons, and a plethora of informative statements like Manny posted.
I have been shot at twice in my life. Both by soldiers who had been trained on the M-1911 .45 cal pistol. Both were clearing their weapons at the time; and both shots missed my head by inches.
