| First off Mr. Carroll,
It's a pleasure to "meet" you. I haven't really gotten a chance to type anything worth posting in your forum.
I've only been into jazz for about a year. Jazz rekindled my interest in playing (I've been playing since 5th grade and am currently in 10th.) I picked up Mahler No. 5 because I heard a lot of people on this site talking about it. It's impressive.
A few of my favorite jazz songs are:
Clifford Brown - Joy Spring [There's just something about it....]
Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers - Dat Dere [What a COOL chord progression!]
Dizzy Gillespie - Manteca [I love the mix of latin, big band, and bebop - I get the chills listening to this one.]
Charlie Parker - Quasimado(Yes, they misspelled 'Quasimodo') [This tune is comforting - I can't quite place why.]
I could go on and on, but those are my top favorites.
My favorite jazz album is Dizzy Gillespie's "Afro".

EDIT - I just had to put this in - Charlie Parker's rendition of Hot House is great, too!
