What a week. For my sins I'm Acting Assistant Dean at CalArts this term and in charge of financial aid (absolutely no fun playing God with money, as you can well imagine). Between this, registration, and an upcoming announcement (tease), my dance card has been overflowing.
Not too full, however, to think of this thread. . . a few more comments to keep it alive.
Marco Blaauw (”From the very first moment I imagined a troubadour, who by the means of his art spreads news. That’s exactly what I want – by the means of my trumpet.”) is the brilliant young Dutch trumpeter that replaced Marcus Stockhausen in the solo trumpet role of the archangel Michael in Stockhausen Senior's opera productions. He has developed a double-belled trumpet and plays a very interesting mix of solo and ensemble works. Check him out at

http://www.jasonpainterprice.com is an American of similar brilliance to watch out for. He's a fearless trumpeter, interesting composer, and creative soul. Keep an ear out for Jason and his group Alarm Will Sound, and turn down the gain on your headphones. Jason is the real deal too.
