Alex Yates has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Hey Dylan, were you there? If you were, I wish you would have tapped me on the shoulder and said hello. Darn. I know there were lots of brass players in the audience. I could just feel it in the air and see it in most cases. LOL. I talked to some friendly trombone players (shhhhhhhhhh, don't tell anyone), but Jason was the only trumpeter to approach me so we could say, "Hey!" and chat a bit. Most folks here don't have a picture of themselves posted, so I would have a hard time recognizing anyone. Infact, I walked right by Jason and as I turned to my husband and said, "I think that is Jason from TM".....there he was about to tap me on the shoulder. I was happy that we managed to catch one another. It feels good to actually meet someone in the flesh rather than type to them.

I forgot to mention one important component of last night's performance. Since we were all gathering in honor of "The Resurrection Symphony", this kind of makes sense. I believe most orchestras perform the Star Spangled Banner before concerts - at the least the ones with which I have seen and performed. Well, I have NEVER in my life experienced one like last night. I guess having a huge choir on stage helped, but it seemed as though everyone in the audience belted it out too. I know I did. Something just came over me. I am a mezzo for sure, but I used my trumpet air and managed to sing the soprano line from the bottom of my heart and lungs the entire way through. There were chillbumps galore in the hall. When everyone sat down afterwards, you could see folks talking to their buddies or spouses. We all felt it. WHAT we felt, I am not quite sure. I think it was some long-lost patriotism that most of us had not tapped into for a while. Needless to say, I was impressed and touched.
