abbedd has a spectacular aura about
Paolo Longinotti

Everyone knows his etude book. But did you know that he was principal in the Suisse Romande Ochestra from 1939 till his death at age 53 in January of 1953. That means he is on all of the recordings of Ernest Ansermet until his death

Recommended is

Haydn Con
Martin Con for 7 Winds
Dukas Fanfare From La Peri
Debussy Martyrdom of St Sebastian
Beethoven Sym # 5
Soldier's Tale

And with Maag
Posthorn Serenade

With Munchinger and the Stuttgart Chamber orchestra
Bran # 2
Bach Cantata # 51

As much as I like Glantz and Vacchiano, I consider Longinotti the superior orchestral player. He is that good. And his section mates wre superb too. Ansermet was the greatest expert on wind playing and was a trumpeter as well as a clarinetist and violinist
