I don't care if a rest is 4 beats or 400 measures. I can play on the first tune of a Mass and then play on the last tune starting a piece on a high A or something and it matters not to me. Reading the responses so far really makes me mad -- I go back to my original post -- you know the kind of parts I'm talking about? The ones where it just looks like someone spilled ink on a piece of paper and they told everyone it was music!  I hate those darn parts that are so hard to count. I guess I'm just lazy -- I can do it, I just don't like to work at it that hard.
