| Two great instruction books. The Brass Work Book for Natural Trumpet, by Michael Laird.
The Art of Baroque Trumpet Playing, by Edward Tarr. Volume 1, Basic Exercises, is the essential one. It's like Arban for nats. Get that one first. Vol. 2 and 3 are Method of Ensemble Playing , and a Beautiful Bouquet of the Finest Fanfares.
The Laird book has a fingering chart for 3 and 4 hole systems. Basically the written f ,top of the staff , is the worst note. The thumb hole corrects that one. |
