| As with others, I am fortunate to have a history of service in the armed forces in my family, although my great grandfather didn't exactly serve with the U.S forces- He was part of the Honor Guard that escorted Jeff Davis to Montgomery to take the oath of office as President of the Confederacy. Since then, however, my father (SSGT, USMC), an uncle (LtCol, USAAF, Europe) and another uncle (Capt, USAAF, Pacific) have served, all in WWII. I am retired as a Chief Warrent Officer from the Army National Guard, where I served as Commander of the 41st Army Band. I have always been proud of the members of my family that have served. Fortunately, all came back, including one uncle who was a guest of the German government for about a year. |
