Actually, I'm with Tootsall on this one. If the Hamilton stands, sturdy as they are, are those metal ones with three legs, then I have one of those, and I've put it away in favour of the K&M five (metal!) leg stand I use now. Any "tripod" design where the legs don't rest flat on the floor is an invitation to "tip me over". Ever wonder why you don't see four-leg rolling office chairs anymore? They're banned as a safety hazard.
Nothing flimsy about the K&M 5-leg, and because it rests on the floor, pretty much un-tippable (is that a word?) BTW, how exactly did the (three leg) store-in-bell stands "fail" - which part(s) gave way? They're not the most substantial pieces of equipment, but I'd never heard of them causing damage as you describe.

Oh, and NICE horn, Lara!
