Instrument insurance

Just a cautionary word for people who are shopping for insurance: I found out a couple of years ago that the policy I had had since I first got my own instrument in high school was null and void because I wasn't using a hard case! A policy which is supposed to be for professional musicians but doesn't acknowledge the needs of professional musicians is a bit of a joke as far as I'm concerned. I don't drive you see so getting a combination tpt/flugel case (or two seperate cases and a bag of mutes/fake books!) on packed rush hour buses and trains is no joke! The people on the other end of the phone were also very unhelpful and uncaring. I shudder to think what would have happened if I'd actually needed to make a claim! I am now with a company who actually want my custom and take my needs seriously. I pay extra to leave my instruments in a locked car boot (though i seldom do) and also for taking them abroad for when I am on tour or whatever.

Check your policy thoroughly!!!
