Residuals

In the case of "McHale's Navy," a Village People recording was used in the film version. We were compensated because of the use of the recorded music in a different medium. This happens a lot.

I still get a few dollars every year for "Kramer vs.Kramer," it had to have been recorded more than twenty-five years ago. I play a few measures of the Purcell Trumpet Sonata in the movie.
We get residuals for films in August and record residuals in September.
The busy guys get serious money in repayments.
These payments were negotiated by the A.F.of M. for its members
