| Ya... I've been watching US politics for some time now and I think it's a shame you don't have more of a multi-party system down that-a-ways. Then there would be something for "middle of the roaders" to at least consider. Probably much too late for that though (although there seems to be enough sentiment in that direction that it might just take one small shove to get it started).
In Canada I'm considered a Liberal (I can never forget how the military...which I grew up in...was emasculated by the Diefenbaker conservatives) ... but I have some strong conservative tendencies (such as the death penalty for 1st degree murder). But in Canada I'm actually "middle of the road" since our Liberals are "out-lefted" by the real socialists, the "New Democratic Party". Then there are the Greens (don't ask), the Separatists (a P.C. word for "traitors"), and the usual fringe group "nutcases". It tends to make for a different (but no less interesting) election from yours.
Oh well, that's more politics than I usually want to talk about in public forums (I'm a believer in leaving politics, religion and the weather...a pc phrase for "global warming"...constrained to "the smallest room in the house" and not trotted out where it might be embarrassing). |
