NickD has a spectacular aura about
Two versions of Punk's Funk

OK, I am in the process of choosing a mastering house for my Cd project. I have just uploaded two new versions of Punk's Funk to my Mp3unsigned.com site. One is just a raw stereo mix that I submitted to the house and the other is the mastered version (with EQ, compression, limiting, all applied). I am not telling which version is which. I sincerely want your opinions as to which one sounds better overall.

Now, this track has been the most challenging to re-mix, but I the product is now the way I want it, from that point of view. The Mastering job, however, is what I am seeking ideas on. This track is old school jazz funk fusion as opposed to straight ahead swing. If you feel that this style of music is so far from what you listen to as to not allow you to simply compare the two, that's cool! You should probably skip it. I am looking for honest comparions of the mastering - NOT reviews of the tunes.

I'm attaching a poll. Let's see what happens.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here are the two links.

PLEASE NOTE: I had to make MP3's of the tracks to post them. The compression may cloud the differences a bit, but I think you can still spot it.

Peace!
