If anyone could answer this one, they would be Einstien of psychology. I'm sure there are clinical reasons and after having dinner with a head shrinker last night, I could probably name a few. (birhtday party, not a professional appointment)
Unfortunatlely it comes down to free will. The suspects in this case decided that their idea of fun trumped the idea that committing bodily harm against an innocent is wrong. Whether it was a decision where they reasoned it out (which I highly doubt) or for whatever reason their brains did not tell them to stop, this is wrong, who knows
What I do know is people like this need some time to reflect, preferably in prison.
