| Hi,
Sadly, the handwriting is on the wall . . . in huge red letters: CHEAP CHINA LABOR MEANS THEY'LL SOON BE MAKING MOST OF THE WORLD'S MASS MARKET STEP-UP TRUMPETS
This won't affect the small custom makers who are responsive to each and every client . . . but it means the deathknell of companies like Selmer/Bach as far as them dominating the mass market for step up trumpets anymore.
Steinway/Selmer/Bach may not like it, since Bach is the most profitable segment of their company by far . . . but Bach may one day return to being a relatively small company, sold off to a few dedicated craftsmen currently working in the Bach factory.
Wouldn't it be ironic if Bach once again welcomed . . . and once again did custom horns for discerning clients . . . and at the highest standards possible? That may be the only market left for 'em after China takes over the huge high schooler market. |
