| Ha! The benefits of playing with a great orchestra is a great budget and not having to play most of the Kalmus editions of anything! They've put out some reprintings of some stuff and it's better, thank goodness. We played Don Quixote recently and it's full of stupid errors (just like Kalmus used to be) and it was a pain in the neck.
We, I'm proud to say, play the low Eb in Heldenleben here in Minneapolis. I'm with you, Jerry. I was really diapponted the very first time I heard the old Reiner CSO Heldenleben and heard the low brass take the Eb. But the Mahler? Eh, not as big a deal as it adds little to that section.
