I had two great non-playing gigs. I got a call for a jingle back in the days when live musicians,not machines, actually made the music. I showed up on time only to find out that my gig was to show a kid, the cutest freckle faced red-head, how to honk out a note on the cornet. The kid looked like a Norman Rockwell painting
I got paid as the leader on that one. The residuals were nice, and I didn't play a note!
I got another call from the same ad agency a few years later. When I showed up I didn't know what to expect. There was a video of a band on a bus. The bus was running out of gas. The bus pulled into a gas station and for some reason the trumpet player plays the Texaco tune on his mouthpiece
They pay those guys big bucks to think up these things.
