Method / Etude Books by Principal Trumpet Players

I’m interested in making a list of method books / etudes that have been authored / composed by Principal trumpet players (orchestral players) – it doesn’t matter if they are considered primarily another kind of player, as long as they spent time in an orchestra in the principal chair (like H. L. Clarke). Here’s a start:

1. Richard Shuebruk (Boston Symphony 1886-1887)
.....Complete Lip Trainers for Trumpet (Carl Fischer)
.....Complete Tongue Trainers for Trumpet (Carl Fischer)

2. Herbert L. Clarke (Metropolitan Opera 1899-1900, NY Phil 1900-1901 – Principal Cornet)
.....Setting Up Drills (Carl Fischer)
.....Elementary Studies (Carl Fischer)
.....Technical Studies (Carl Fischer)
.....Characteristic Studies (Carl Fischer)

3. Edwin Franko Goldman (Metropolitan Opera 1901-1909)
.....Practical Studies for the Trumpet (Carl Fischer)

4. Sigmund Hering (The Cleveland Orchestra 1922-1923)
.....Forty Progressive Etudes
.....Thirty Etudes for Trumpet or Cornet
.....Thirty-Two Etudes
.....Bach for Two Trumpets
.....The Sigmund Hering Trumpet Course, Book 1
.....The Sigmund Hering Trumpet Course, Book 2
.....The Sigmund Hering Trumpet Course, Book 3
.....23 Orchestral Etudes for the Advanced Trumpeter
.....Etudes in All the Major and Minor Keys
.....Miniature Classics
.....More Miniature Classics

5. James Stamp (Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra 1929-1944)
.....James Stamp Warm-Ups + Studies (Editions-BIM)

6. Albert Mancini (Detroit Symphony Orchestra 1933-1935 and 1936-1937)
.....Mancini 50 Quartets

7. William Vacchiano (New York Philharmonic 1942-1973)
.....Orchestral Rhythms for Trumpet (Balquhidder)
.....Advanced Etudes for Trumpet for Ear Training and Accuracy (Balquhidder)
.....William Vacchiano: Moving Transposition (C.F. Peters)

8. Gabriel Bartold (National 1942-43, Kansas City 1943-48, Houston 1948-49, San Diego 1949-58)
.....Orchestral Excerpts Books (International)

9. Pierre Thibaud (Paris Opera 1966-1992)
.....Daily Routine and Vocalises for the Advanced Trumpeter (Balquhidder)
.....Method for the Advanced Trumpeter (Balquhidder)
.....Chromatic Exercises & Technical Studies for the Advanced Trumpeter (Balquhidder)

10. Thomas Stevens (Los Angeles Philharmonic 1972-1999)
.....48 Lyric Studies (Editions-BIM)
.....Changing Meter Studies (Editions-BIM)
.....Contemporary Interval Studies (Editions-BIM)

11. James Thompson (Phoenix 1970-1973, Montreal 1976-1990, Atlanta 1990-1998)
.....The Buzzing Book (Editions-BIM)

12. Michael Sachs (The Cleveland Orchestra 1988-Current)
.....Daily Fundamentals for the Trumpet (International)
.....Mahler: Symphonic Works, Complete Trumpet Parts(International)

You'll notice that with the exception of Pierre Thibaud, there are no books shown for Principal Players in orchestras outside of the United States. I'd like to add to this list, so if you have any information, please post to this topic!

Thanks!
