| Various etude tempi Manny, here's a question: there are a lot of etudes with suggested metronome markings that I can never and have never gotten up to speed. I can't do Brandt #6 for example at the speed of dotted half 76. Nor can I get #15 much above 66, much less the indicated 82. Many of the Walter Smith etudes have eluded me at full speed, thought there are a good number I can do. Is this important? Can you do all etudes at the recommended tempi? (Will we have to get into another conversation about the plural of tempo?) Or am I just schlub who can't play fast enough?
