| I can't believe the responses telling you to ditch a mouthpiece you're happy with. If you're happy with the 1C, keep playing the 1C.
That said, I used to play a 1C, tried both the 1E and 1D, and found them to be unplayable. I immediately bottomed out on both. Hey, either one might work for you, but they didn't feel the same to me at all. (Cue the "GR Alpha Angle" speech.)
Were I still playing the 1C I'd probably look into the Curry line of mouthpieces for a lead model. Curry claims to offer shallower mouthpieces suitable for lead playing, with rims that don't deviate from the standard Bach C-style.
