Feel free to leave a message here for Doc Severinsen.
There have been many nice posts in the Orchestra/Solo forum wishing him the best for his upcoming retirement. We will be taking those messages and and combining them with posts here.
TM member Bernadette Hilario "BinSB" will make sure he gets all of the messages!
Thank you Bernadette!
Doc Severinsen, the flamboyantly dressed jazz trumpeter, conductor and, most famously, leader of "The Tonight Show" band during the Johnny Carson years, will step down as principal conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra's Weekender Pops Series, a position he has held for 13 years. He will play his last concert as principal conductor in April 2007.
Severinsen, 79, said in a prepared statement that he plans to retire in order to spend more time with his "wonderful wife and best friend, Emily." They raise horses at a ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley of central California. He also is relinquishing a similar pops position next year with the Milwaukee Symphony. http://www.startribune.com/457/story/546392.html
