| Fred is now retiring to Central Oregon, but first he went to the ITG convention, and has a long list of stuff to do before he really leaves Portland. But he's done with the symphony, several weeks ago now, the Mahler Seventh being the last item in a long and illustrious career. The audition was a while ago and Mr. Work won the job.
Fred Sautter is a great player and helped so many students in so many ways, including me. But he's leaving in good health and spirits as far as I know. I talked with him a few weeks ago and he was very much looking forward to all the things he could now do that he couldn't before because he didn't have the time.
I'm sure that many here on this board know and worked with him, and wish him well on his retirement.
