Christine, you DON'T have to do this!
Conn made literally millions of bottom-sprung valves for a period of over 50 years!
Thus, replacement cork for those extremely common Conn bottom-sprung valves IS avaliable in the supply catalogues for the instrument repair business!!!
DON'T TRY TO WHITTLE A SET THAT WON'T BE TO "SPEC."
Get your local repair shop over there to order you a BRAND NEW SET for each of your Conn bottom-sprung horns. These cork replacements are cheap . . . and you'll be able to get your horn's valves aligned back to original specs . . . and thus help them play their best!!!
