I'm with Alex. I didn't choose the trumpet, it chose me, only I didn't have someone telling me I should play it.
In fourth grade I heard Doc play a concert here in Rochester, MN, and knew from that moment I had to play the trumpet. So in fifth grade when we got to start band and pick our instrument, I boldly walked up to the director and proclaimed, "I want to play the trumpet".
Ok, maybe in a way someone (Doc) was telling me to play the trumpet.
Alex, I also started out on drums. Took lessons in third grade, but once I heard Doc that's all she wrote for percussion.
