Greg, The Havoloine / Chevron I'm talking about is the "conventional" / "dino" oil. non synthetic. It could be found at Walt Mart for $1.40 before the prices on everything went up. A search for it on BITOG will turn up incredible reviews. These guys send their used oil to labs to have tested

No messing around.
I know Havoline makes a semi syn and I'm sure its fantastic
I would feel comfortable running this stuff for 5k with a decent filter no problem.
I'm sure your RSX came with a "conventional" honda oem oil to brake the motor in. Any synthetic with 7,500k changes would work fine. In fact 10K would probably be no sweat.
One piece of advice I will give you is you might want to go with some thing besides Mobil 1 in that car. Honda motors eat that stuff up. Its a great oil but it is on the thin side for its spec. The high revs of the RSX S motor don't help it.

I've never used synthetic as I've always changed my oil at 3000 miles.
With my new RSX however, I may go synthetic and change at 7,500 miles.
What's your thoughts?
