Did the original parts labeled C and Bb/A? I've played the "second" part a few times, but it has always been labeled A. Frank Battisti wrote out the part for B-flat, which is helpful, but I've never seen a part switching between both keys. If it weren't for those gnarly licks in the second movement, I think the whole thing might work with two C trumpets.
