Depends on the horn. A large bore 1947 Committee might set you back $2000. I good New York Bach and Chicago Benge will be in that range and sometimes higher. OTOH, you can buy tons of Selmer Paris, King, Conn, Elkhard Bach, etc. for under $1000.

I don't think price is the deciding factor.
