Personally, I've been real happy with my SoundBack plexiglass disk. I get plenty off of that and I don't have to trust the sound man. However, I am doing jobbing dates and things are usually set up quickly and not ofen correctly. Also, the in ear things might help of the stage volume is to be minimized (in lieu of floor monitors).
