| I love those early elkhart horns! Someone suggested that I strip the one that I had, but I never did that because I liked it so much just the way it was. If I were you, I'd hang on to the horn. If you are concerned about the wear on the brass, I used to use clear nail polish on the spots that were worn through. That was a quick fix. A better fix would be to have the horn touched up and eventually gold plated. Sounds like you have a pretty sweet horn.
