If I remember rightly, they were numbered outside the normal Bach numbering sequence.

That's correct. The anniversary edition Bachs are numbered differently. I don't believe there was any such thing as a reverse leadpipe on New York or Mt. Vernon Bachs, either. An old Bach with that number would be a very early New York Strad from the 1920's, quite rare.
