| The hiss can come from a variety of problems.
Is the microphone volume ok or very weak? If weak, the input is probably configured as "line" and not "mic"
Is the battery on the ECM-MS957 weak? This has haunted me for years with eletret condenser microphones.
Try another audio program like Audacity just to see if it is an Adobe thing
