| Giving Thanks TMers,
A pause in today's festivities has allowed me to slip away to the computer and download my thanks.
I'm thankful for my family and for my students. They mean the absolute world to me.
I'm thankful for the Federalist Papers, Rene Descartes, John Locke, Rousseau, Plato, and the Constitution.
I'm thankful for Spinoza, Kant, Leonardo da Vinci, Al Young, John Irving, Tennessee Williams, Francis Ford Coppola, Patti Smith, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Bob Brookmeyer, Richard Strauss, John Wallace, and the Stockhausens (père et fils).
I'm thankful for baseballperspectus.com, baseballthinkfactory.com, thehardballtimes.com, whoever designed the G4 Powerbook, and the architect that designed Wrigley Field.
I'm thankful to my Deans at CalArts and McGill, and to Northwest Airlines for allowing me to live in a close to perfect New England college town. I'm also thankful that New York and the MET are only 4 hours away and that Los Angeles, London, and Venice remain so very cool.
I'm thankful for whoever it was that first envisioned growing grapes for wine in California.
I'm thankful for Renold Schilke, John Lindenau, Vince Cichowicz, and Gerry Schwarz for suffering me as a student and for occasional smiles from Bernard Haitink.
And lastly I'm thankful for the administration of Trumpet Master, my colleagues and my friends here, new and old, for making this forum such an enjoyable experience.
Enough thanks for now . . . back for another desert!
