Good point Manny. In fact, it could be that the French horn players would wonder how anybody could hold a horn in front of their face for any length of time no matter what size/weight it was for they are use to having their horn down on their lap. This could be true for any other musical instrument player who did not hold their horns like a trumpet player. Here, the trumpet players are talking about holding different weight horns. In the end, it all depends on what you want in terms of a sound and playability from your trumpet so as to put up with the other little factors associated with it.
If one gets tired from holding his horn, he probably gets tired from blowing it also. There is no easy way out of this. It takes training of the whole body and good health to keep up with this profession of trumpet playing.
I don't mind the little extra weight I have in the Taylor as compared to the Schilke that I have for the Taylor gives me the sound and playability that I want and enjoy the most. During the first week or so, I noticed the difference in weight but after that it is not an issue.
