| Selling some of my horns Hi folks.
I've decided to sell some horns that have been sitting around here for a while. (I’m working with a new horn company now, so when those arrive my current horns will hopefully become my “back-ups”.) These will be in the “classifieds” area soon. Feel free to PM-me for more specific info (or if you’d like to see more photos).
(I will take these to TH or Ebay if they don't sell, but I'd love to see them played by some TMers, since they were all part of my daily arsenal at one point or another.)
The negative: Although these horns have been very well cared for, they were used on a daily based (except for the Schilke C), and show wear accordingly.
The positive: These were hand picked from many other tpts., and there are no “dogs” here, only fine instruments. All have great valves & slides.
- Schilke C6L - tuning bell C tpt., in amazing shape (especially considering the age - serial # 12XXX) Purchased used from Dillon Music about 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Perfect for chamber music / quintet / church. Silver plated.
- Calicchio 1S 7 - Hollywood era ML bore Bb (serial # 64XX). I had some braces removed to free up the bell. (I still have the original bell to leadpipe brace, and will include it.) It really vibrates in the hands. Some mute dings in the bell area. Purchased from WWBW about 6-7 yrs. ago. It was my main horn from about 2000-2003. One owner. Silver plated.
- Courtois Bb (Prestige “Phantom” Serie S 311 ML) - Purchased from Sam Ash Music in NYC around 1990. Detachable leadpipe. Very quick response & excellent pitch. My main horn from about 1990-1992. The bell and valve section are black. The leadpipe and inside of the bell are lacquered. The lacquer on the leadpipe is worn. One owner.
- F. Besson (Stamm model) Bb - Got this horn in the mid 1990’s, when Marvin Stamm was working with Besson. It has a .462 bore and is in raw brass. I purchased this as a second horn to use in the pit at my show. Has a “Bach-like” blow, but seems to be more vibrant. Some mute dings in the bell area. Serial # 32XX. It comes with a moveable brace, and both lightweight & heavyweight valve caps. One owner.
- Weril K971 Excalibur Flugelhorn - Played this at Dillon Music years ago & loved it. I told my friend Dave Trigg about it, and he went and bought it before I could get back down there! I asked him to let me know if he ever wanted to sell it. About 3 years later, he sold it to me and I’ve had it since (probably 10 yrs. now).
Gold plated, beautiful sound, just a bit too heavy for me. Minor scrathes on the right side of the bell. Although functional now, it will eventually need a screw for the 3rd valve trigger.
If any TMers are in the NYC area and would like to play any of them, drop me a line & we’ll try to arrange something. |
