Hi all-
I regularly hit pawn shops and thrift stores in town and while at a local scary pawn shop I came across a horn case marked "Conn." From my reading over the last few days I've learned that these horns are often saught after and solid horns. I decided to take a look. The horn was in good condition with some blemishes in the finish but very few, if any, dents. All the valves were working. The shop was asking $125 and I offered $100. Sold.
I looked over once I got home and looked it up on the Conn Loyalist pages. S/N 518353 puts it around 1955 or so. It's the Victor model and it appears to either be a 6B (early model) or perhaps a 10B, judging by what I read online.
Can anyone help me better understand what model this is?
One note - I record for a living, so this horn will get used by lots of great players and will end up on many a record... I'd hate to think of a nice instrument being hacked on for eternity:)
Thanks much-
Lee
