If you are bottoming out, you may need a larger cup. If the rim seems to be working, maybe exploring some slightly deeper cups will help. See what is available with the same rim:

Playing softly on your lead mouthpiece (in all registers) might be a good way to work into it. Concentrate on producing as warm a sound as possible in the middle register. Give yourself a few weeks. If you are still bottoming out, try something a tad larger (cup only).
