Every Calicchio I have owned has had the forward-facing 2nd valve slide so as far as I know, this was standard on the LA horns. I don't know what the standard is on the Tulsa horns now but some of the pics on the website show a "normal" set-up. I used to have one of the copper 3/9's and remember having to buy another trio of mutes to fit the #3 bell. My wife is big into crafts so she steered me in the right direction regarding cork and contact cement.
