Hello Guys-
My name is Phil Rinaldi. I live in Garwood, NJ (about 20 minutes outside of NYC), Mark Van Cleave is my mentor and I am an Artist Representative for his horns.
I have been meaning to join the ranks here at Trumpet Master, so I guess now is as good a time as ever.
Here is what I posted on TH (Greg, I know we allready spoke):
The "Preference Guide" on the website
http://vancleavetrumpets.com/trumpets.html is pretty accurate.
I find the tone on the MV4 to be a little darker than the MV2.
They both respond quite similiar. If your looking for more feedback, try the lightweight bell.
The blow is just slightlly more open on the MV4.
The projection (probablly the number one reason Mark designed the horns) is amazing and almost exactly the same on all the horns (except the MV3).
My gut reccomendation would be the MV2, which is also the horn I use (except that I have the leadpipe opened up all the way). It is very versitile.
If you need more information, feel free to E-Mail me at
phil@philrinaldi.com or if you are going to be in the New Jersey area at any point, I would be happy to help you out personally.
End quote.
With that said, if anyone needs any additional help...please E-Mail me...or post on TM and I will try and catch the post.
Tony K- first I'd like to say that you are a great trumpet player who I've watched live dozens of times and always enjoy it more and more. I would love to get together one day.
The problem with the receiver has been addressed. We did realize some mouthpieces were not fitting in some of the horns. This was due to Mark's venturi designs.
If you need anything else, E-Mail me at
phil@philrinaldi.com. I would be happy to bring you my horns to try and maybe work on getting you one to try for a couple of weeks from Indiana. Also, Scott Wendholt is testing out an MV3 (soon to be an MV1L), so if you catch him around...maybe you can give that one a blow.
