Try this, take them off, rub them (all three) as much(and as hard) as you dare on a rag with car polishing compound, or another fine grit substance, maybe toothpaste. I've found that the older buttons can get discolored and or lacquered in the old days.Rub rub rub, then buff out. Try not to use too much or it will get clogged in the knurling of the buttons.Good luck! If all else fails you can get a set of 3 new ones fairly cheap on ebay fronm several suppliers!
