| Re: Ornamentation in Baroque/Renaissance contexts If anyone is interested in tastefully done early music on modern instruments, then check out Ray Mase's transcriptions and recordings with the ABQ. Ray used to play cornetto in the New York Cornett and Sackbutt ensemble when that group still existed, and he has a solid understanding of Renaissance ornamentation. That carries over to his modern transcriptions and recordings as well. Some of his publications include ornamentation in "small notes" with opposite stems imbedded in the printed music. |
