| Re: Yamaha Chicago Bb Versatility A good trumpet is a good trumpet. The Chicago would be great for any situation depending on the player. I had it narrowed down to a Chicago and my LA a couple weeks ago. In the end I chose the LA, but either horn would work well for any situation for me.
As Wayne Bergeron once told me, it doesn't matter what the horn is designed to do. If it works for you, play it. He nearly blew the windows out of the music building in Milwaukee playing the most gigantic double D on my Bach 37, which is an "orchestral" leaning trumpet. Right after that note he said, "Wow, this is a great horn........what is it?"
