Nothing hurts more than John La Barbera telling you to play a different lick this time because you played that one lick the last 4 times while recording with a big band under his direction. Of course he usually smiles, shakes his head, and chalks it up to youth on my part. I've yet to enlighten him to the fact that I'm 32 now. He taught me when I was 17 at Skidmore and I think he perpetually thinks of me as "that good young trumpeter"
Oh well, what he doesn't know won't hurt him LOL!
Side note: I did consider that fact that he is so much older than I am that no matter how old I get he'll always think of me as the young guy, but I decided against this line because he might challenge me to a race up the steps .... in which case he would WHOOOOOOOOUP ME!
