On the LA Benges, the number is probably stamped on the bell. All the ones I have owned have had that -- most 3, one 5. My Burbank Benge does not have the number on the bell, though the bell flare looks like a 5. The huge majority of Benges produced were the 3 bell.

The ML bore is .460.

The standard way to measure the bore is to measure the inside diameter at the 2nd valve slide with a pair of calipers.
