| Re: Hallelujah by Handel Yes, make every effort to get hold of a D (or Eb) trumpet, as it will help you with your accuracy in the high register, and with achieving balance with the choir. Afraid I can't help you with locating an instrument, as I live on the other side of the planet!
If you do not have time to warm up before playing, keep your mouthpiece in your pocket so it is kept warm - I find trying to play on a cold mouthpiece is the worst thing. Also, try to keep the instrument somewhere warm, or you'll have tuning problems as it heats up throughout the piece.
Other than that, enjoy it - it is a fantastic piece to play. The middle section with the sustained written G, followed by the semiquaver run and the build up to the written high C is one of my favourites. |
