A few years ago Bud came to NEC for a "Brass Bash." On the gala concert, he played the Fanfae for St. Edmundsbury with Charlie Schlueter and Peter Chapman. I went to the rehearsal and Bud spent the first part of the it talking to Charlie and Peter about the different mouthpieces he had brought. This was especially ironic given that Charlie was playing his Raja Samahdi, which has no mouthpiece. When Bud finally finished talking about mouthpieces and decided on one to use, the rehearsal was half over.
