There is a picture in the September 94 Smithsonian of one of his moughpieces that shows a 1 rim and a custom underpart. What any individual player uses really doesn't matter, as long as the product that comes out of the bell is what you want. The audience or conductor doesn't hear 3c, 1X or 1.5B. So use what works best for you not because Bud used it.
