Bud used several different things... I do know he played on a 7c in the early days before the car wreck. Since then he played on larger equiptment, I know theres a Laskey model he was fond of 80b or something? I think he played on various versions of the 1 (1.5,1.25,C,X) for awhile... and then eventually later on lots of things...

He said he always used to best tools for the job.... for instance, one time he recorded himself play the posthorn solo on a few different combinations of horn/mpc/etc. and ended up chosing the old Bundy Cornet because he liked that sound the best.

Ultimately, Bud sounded the way he did not because of equiptment, but because of his sound concept... the switches of equiptment were to it easier to obtain the goal already conceptualized in his head.
